Study the concepts of dominance and cooperation in relation to training animals.
To the dismay of animal welfare advocates, the idea of using dominance to train animals was popularized in the 2000’s. You will study this controversy. You will learn how to frame the issue as a hypothesis and look at the problems of trying to test it. You will study the models of dominance hierarchy and cooperation to get a feeling for actual research on this topic. This exploration of dominance and cooperation will take place through reading, videos, and online activities. This achievement will be evaluated by a quiz and written essay assessment.
